The Foundation honors the memory of Ira Sohn, a talented Wall Street professional whose life was cut short when he passed away from cancer at the age of 29. In 1995, Ira’s friends Douglas Hirsch, Lance Laifer and Daniel Nir, along with Ira’s mother Judith Sohn and brother Evan, created The Sohn Conference Foundation.

The Sohn Conference Foundation is dedicated to the treatment and cure of pediatric cancer and other childhood diseases. The Foundation supports cutting-edge medical research, state-of-the-art research equipment, and innovative programs to ensure children with cancer survive and thrive.

The Sohn Conference Foundation raises its funds through a unique strategy. The Foundation calls the world’s most successful investors to offer their expertise — these investors give their time and inspire large audiences and followers in the name of the Foundation’s cause. The flagship Sohn Investment Conference takes place annually in New York City. The Foundation has expanded its investment forums to include Australia, Brazil, Canada, Geneva, Hong Kong, India, London, Monaco, San Francisco, and Tel Aviv.

The Sohn Conference Foundation funds innovative research and care to treat and cure pediatric cancer, striving to help children suffering from cancer survive and thrive. To date, events by The Sohn Conference Foundation have raised $85 million.

In-kind donations of goods or services that benefit pediatric cancer patients are welcomed as well. For more information please contact info@sohnconference.org. The Sohn Conference Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity, and as such, all contributions are deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

Join the Fight
The Sohn Conference Foundation pursues preeminent and bold initiatives that will have the greatest impact in treating and curing pediatric cancer. The Foundation makes the majority of its grants to New York City institutions — hospitals and research centers — because it seeks to help the visionary scientific leaders and deserving patients of its host city.
  • INSPIRE
Cutting-Edge Scientific Research Collaborations in New York City

  • INVEST
    in State-of-the-Art Technology.
New technologies—microscopes, cell sorters, DNA sequencers—will lead scientists to medical breakthroughs, but these technologies are expensive and government funds do not support such purchases. New technologies will enable scientists to understand each child’s cancer and customize medical treatments.

  • DEVELOP
the Next Generation of Physician Scientists
Right now, too few young, bright physician-scientists are researching pediatric cancer, resulting in a crisis within the field. The Foundation seeds a fellowship program to award funding to innovative, new scientists who are being overseen by the current leaders in the field.

  • PROMOTE
Quality of Care for Children with Cancer
Insurance does not support comprehensive quality-of-life initiatives in hospitals. The Foundation funds cutting-edge diagnostic precision medicine and the renovation of dilapidated spaces to improve the quality of the treatment experience for children with cancer.
